Hugo Montenegro - Montenegro & Mayhem (a.k.a. Bongo's and Brass)

From my fellow-blogger Isbum comes this Hugo Montenegro recording of 1960 !
One of the great chameleons of space-age pop, Montenegro could be wild, innovative, swinging, sedate, tame, or mundane, depending on what the contract called for. Montenegro was hired by Time Records as a musical director, and produced a whole slew of albums for the label. Some, such as Bongos and Brass and Boogie Woogie and Bongos are frenzied examples of stereo/percussion showcase music. His arrangement of Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King is one of my favorite cuts. (Spaceagepop)
Reissued as Montenegro & Mayhem, Bongos & Brass is fairly good, for arranged "jazz" intended for the stereophile. "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" could be considered a crime piece, and "Heat Wave" stands out just slightly above an even pack. That's Johnny Pacheco on bongos, apparently earning a little rent money just before taking over New York as king of pachanga and eventual Fania All-Star. ~ Tony Wilds, All Music Guide
1-In The Hall Of The Mountain King
2- Limehouse Blues
3-Slaughter on Tenth Avenue
4-Lover
5-Lonesome Road
6-Cottontail
7-Take The A-Train
8-Heat Wave
9-One O' Clock Jump
10- Lover, come back to me
11- The Peanut Vendor
12-Laura

I think you're a little too modest about this album. To me, this is one of the greatest space age pop albums of all time, truly a stereo showpiece, and a lease breaker, if you so desire. There's only one better and that's "Cha Chas for Dancing", also from H.M. and on Time. If anyone posted that one,, they'd being doing everyone a great favor. And you mentioned "Boogie Woogie and Bongos". Does anyone actually have that album? I have a good part of the Time catalog and have never seen a copy of it. You can probably tell, I love your blog.

Hello,
Thanks for your nice blog.
I enjoy most of the albums shared in this blog.
;)

By the way,I have a request.
I have 2 tracks and I don't know who are the composers of these Themes.

I think they are composed by French or German musicians.

I want you to listen to them and tell me the name of the composers.

I hope you can help.

There are the tracks:

This has been blogged before, but I had no idea this album was "Bongoes & Brass" with a less distinctive cover.

It's a good album!
