Taught to play the trombone by his father

Was responsible for the first live stereo concert ever to take place in the world via a three channel stereo transmitted in a concert hall
In 1974 he became the first American popular musician to record in Russia
Hit "It's the Talk of the Town” was used in the film Doctor Zhivago
Much loved in South America during the 80s and 90s he played massive gigs in Brazilian football stadiums
