The Big Latin Band of Henry Mancini

A great little album of Latiny tunes from Mancini! The record feature's Hank's usual assortment of LA jazzers -- Bud Shank, Pete Candoli, Larry Bunker, Shelly Manne, and others -- all playing Latin-tinged versions of groovy late 60s pop and soundtrack material. There's pretty darn cool takes on "Mission Impossible", "Fistful Of Dollars", "Magnificent Seven", "Touch Of Evil", and "Springtime For Hitler", from the film The Producers. The band's got a choppy Latin RCA groove -- somewhere between the "uhh!" sound of Perez Prado, and the "wah wah" of Esquivel. Other titles include "Patricia", "Zacatecas", and "Las Cruces".
